Understand how people behave and how they adapt to their environment
DISC helps you understand how a person tends to face challenges, relate to others, respond to change and deal with rules and procedures. Talent360 goes beyond the individual profile: it combines Natural and Adapted profiles, behavioral maps, specialized modules, comparisons, target profiles and individual and group analysis to apply DISC to real talent situations.
DISC does not measure who is better. It helps you understand how someone tends to act.
The DISC methodology describes behavioral tendencies. It does not directly measure:
Nor does it, on its own, determine a person's level of performance. Its purpose is to provide information about how someone tends to act, communicate, adapt and respond to the demands of their environment.
That is why DISC should not be used to say:
“This person is good.”
“This profile is bad.”
The correct reading is:
Which behaviors appear most naturally, what can this profile contribute, and which situations may require greater adaptation?
Four factors to understand behavior
These are exactly the four dimensions used by the Talent360 report.
Decision
Decision
How does someone respond to problems and challenges?
Helps you understand how a person faces obstacles, responsibility, decision-making and the need to move forward.
Interaction
Interaction
How does someone relate to and influence others?
Provides information about communication, relationships, participation and interpersonal influence.
Serenity
Serenity
How does someone handle change and the pace of things?
Lets you explore tendencies related to stability, continuity, patience, change and pace.
Compliance
Compliance
How does someone respond to established rules and procedures?
Helps you understand the relationship with structure, precision, standards, quality and criteria.
Every profile is a unique combination of factors and intensities
A person is not simply D, I, S or C. The four factors —Decision, Interaction, Serenity and Compliance— appear simultaneously with different intensities and relate to one another to build a far more precise behavioral profile.
Talent360 does not just assign a person to a category. It takes into account:
This makes it possible to generate reports far better adjusted to each assessed person's specific behavioral configuration.
IT IS NOT
NOR SIMPLY
IT IS
The same combination of letters can contain very different behavioral profiles. Intensity matters too.
possible variations in DISC report generation
Talent360's DISC report generation system accounts for more than 300 million possible variations, combining factors, intensities and interpretation rules. That is why two people who apparently share a DISC combination can receive different interpretations when the intensity and relationship between their factors are not the same.
Three perspectives to understand the profile better
Behavior can be observed from different, complementary perspectives. Each one answers a different question.
Natural Profile
How do I tend to act more spontaneously?
Reflects behavioral tendencies the person usually expresses most naturally.
Adapted Profile
How am I responding to the demands of my current environment?
Helps observe which behaviors appear to intensify, decrease or stay the same in response to what the person perceives their situation requires.
Self-Perceived Profile
ModuleHow do I think I behave and present myself to others?
The Self-Perception module adds the perspective of how the person themselves interprets their behavior across the four DISC factors. It can be compared with the Natural profile and other perspectives to explore matches, differences, nuances or possible blind spots.
NATURAL
How I tend to act
ADAPTED
How I feel I need to act
SELF-PERCEIVED
How I think I'm acting
Understand the distance between your natural style and the environment's demands
The base report compares the Natural Profile with the Adapted Profile to observe the distance between how a person tends to behave and how they seem to be responding to what they perceive their environment requires.
NATURAL PROFILE
How I tend to act
ADAPTED PROFILE
How I feel I need to act
When both profiles are close, there may be greater alignment between the natural tendency and the perceived demands.
When there are significant differences, a greater adaptation effort may be taking place.
From the chart to an understandable interpretation
The base DISC report is not limited to showing bars. It includes an Executive Profile Summary that helps turn the results into information that is easier to interpret. It can show elements related to:
These layers make it possible to move from the D-I-S-C scores to a description of the behavior and the environment in which certain characteristics can be expressed more naturally.
Visualize the profile within the DISC Behavioral Map
The Behavioral Map graphically represents how the profile is positioned within the different zones of the DISC model.
The map zones help visually interpret the combinations between Decision, Interaction, Serenity and Compliance, but they do not represent a closed catalog of possible profiles. The exact position depends on the combination and intensity of each person's factors.
The map lets you visualize and compare, among other perspectives:
Adaptado
One DISC. Many contexts of application.
The behavioral base is the same, but Talent360 lets you add specific modules depending on the objective. For example:
Teamwork
Understand what the person contributes to the team, strengths, challenges and relationships with other styles.
Leadership
Analyze leadership style, strengths, risks, adaptation to context and ways of leading different people.
Sales talent
Understand selling style, strengths, types of sales, clients and adaptation strategies.
Customer service
Analyze service style and how to adapt tone, pace and response to different clients.
Communication
Helps you understand how the person communicates and how to adapt their interaction.
Conflict management
Explores behavioral tendencies in the face of disagreements and tense situations.
Remote work
Goes deeper into communication, organization, productivity and feedback in remote-work contexts.
Development
Can incorporate areas for improvement, contribution to the organization, self-perception and other perspectives.
And there are many other modules. The main idea:
Don't generate the same DISC report for every need. Build the report around the objective.
Turn the DISC profile into a behavioral reading applied to competencies
Talent360 includes more than 80 DISC Behavioral Competency modules available in the system.
The user can select different competencies and build the combinations they need for positions, roles, leadership programs, sales, teams, development or other contexts.
They can also create their own combinations.
Behavioral competency does not mean real performance
The module should not be presented as if DISC measured “this person has 80% leadership.” What it analyzes is the relative behavioral ease associated with certain behaviors linked to a competency, according to the DISC profile. It does not directly assess:
A lower score may indicate that certain behaviors require more effort, practice or intentional development; it does not mean an inability to learn or perform.
Natural vs Adapted in Behavioral Competencies too
For each competency, a Natural value can be shown against an Adapted value. This lets you observe whether the current context seems to be making the person activate certain behaviors more, reduce them or keep them relatively similar.
Negotiation
Leadership
Planning
Illustrative values shown as a conceptual example.
Build combinations around the objective
For example:
Leadership
Sales
The system provides more than 80 modules. You decide which reading you need to build.
From one person to a whole team
DISC should not be presented only as an individual tool. Talent360 lets you position several people on group DISC Maps.
What is each person like?
What combination of styles do we have?
View of the groupDepending on the context, there are specific maps for:
This lets you observe:
- distribution of styles
- predominances
- diversity
- complementarities
- differences in pace, priorities or communication
- possible areas worth exploring
Compare people when you need to answer a specific question
DISC can also be used in comparisons.
Candidate comparison
Lets you visualize different candidates against a DISC target profile. Especially useful when we want to compare several profiles against the behavioral needs of a position.
Candidate–job fit
Lets you go deeper into a specific person and compare their behavioral characteristics with those required by the target profile.
The position can also have a DISC profile
Talent360 lets you work with DISC Target Profiles that describe certain behavioral characteristics considered relevant for a position. The target report can identify:
A target profile such as Billing and Collections Management shows how the system defines a reference DISC profile, describes matching behaviors and classifies different combinations by fit level.
The report map visually shows the fit zones from Acceptable to Excellent.
Use predefined profiles or create your own
Talent360 offers a library of predefined DISC target profiles for different positions. But the organization can also build its own profiles, through:
Once created, the profile can be saved and reused later in comparisons.
Hiring, development, teams and business
DISC appears connected to many solutions because it brings the same behavioral base to different questions.
Not everyone needs the same DISC report
Start from a common base and add only the perspectives relevant to your objective.
DISC BASE
ADD MODULES
Not all reports need to include every module. Modularity lets you build a report that is more relevant to the specific purpose.
On top of this come the more than 80 DISC Behavioral Competency modules, which let you build the competency-based reading each objective requires.
The same methodology. Different questions.
The base assessment is DISC. The interpretation changes depending on the question.
HIRING
How does the person fit the role behaviorally?
DEVELOPMENT
Which strengths and areas are worth working on?
LEADERSHIP
How does the person lead and how do they need to adapt?
TEAM
What do they contribute and how do they relate to other styles?
SALES
How do they sell and how can they adapt to the client?
SERVICE
How do they serve and respond to different clients?
Behavior is one part of the person, not the whole person
DISC does not replace other perspectives. For example:
Motivational Values
Helps you understand what may drive or give meaning to certain decisions.
Competency Feedback
Provides information about competencies from one's own and others' perceptions.
Emotional Intelligence
Adds an emotional perspective.
Cognitive Ability
Explores a different dimension of potential.
DISC provides behavioral context. Talent360 lets you add other evidence when the objective requires it.
Understand, don't label
A DISC profile should not be used to automatically conclude:
The base report itself notes that no profile is better than another and that results should be understood as a behavioral guide, not a fixed label.
DISC should be interpreted together with the context and, when appropriate, with other evidence.
A tendency helps you understand. It does not replace professional judgment.
